How do I add an FTP account using an SSH key?

With your CPanel, you can only use the SFTP protocol with your main CPanel user, which you can find in the “Connection details” section of your DFI-DIrect interface: Overview of Professional Web Hosting.

You can connect to your web hosting securely by any other means.
In fact, you can use an SSH key that you can generate from your CPanel.

You can only create your key using the name of your “Home Directory”.

1. Retrieve the path to your Home Directory from the Cpanel main page
   
   
2. Enable SSH access from menu
   
3. Click on “Manage SSH Keys” then on “Generate a new key”.
   
4. Enter the name of the key with the network path retrieved in point 2
   
   Click on “Generate Key”.
   
5. Once you’ve clicked on “go back”, you’ll see that the KEY’s status is “not authorized”.
   
   Click on “Manage” and then on “Authorize”.
   
6. Now you need to recover your private key
   
   
7. Convert the key to ppk format (you must enter the password you entered in step 5):
   
   then “Download Key”.
   
8. From Filezilla, click on the top right button to create a new connection:
   

You must use the private key downloaded in point 7.
